Workplace for Windows and Mac is a great way to start your work day. Not only are your files, folders and websites available in one place, you can also use the desktop app to launch your Workplace web app to continue your workflow.
The first time you log into Workplace, you will be asked to use your mobile device to verify your login using sign-in verification. On the main page, or Launch page, of Workplace for Windows and Mac, you'll see a tour banner at the top of the window. And, as as you click through each link on the left, you are offered a tour specific to that section. Feel free to pause this lesson to discover on your own. Workplace tours can always be viewed again by navigating to the Help section via the ? Help button.
Let’s take our own tour of the Workplace for Windows and Mac Launch page.
All of your most important websites, files and folders are front and center, under the Starred Websites and Starred Files and Folders sections. We’ll have a chance to star some favorites in the upcoming modules in this course.
On the left panel are links to your work. To change your viewing preference, you can toggle back and forth on the hamburger menu to show icons with text, or icons only.
For quick access to your work, there is a Search field at the top.
Recently Synced Files shows you up-to-date status on files you've worked on locally that have synced to the workplace cloud.
All of your Websites, including accounts and bookmarks, are located here, in the websites section.
You can launch Secure browser we mentioned earlier with this link.
If your device is feeling sluggish, click Connectivity Status to view the health of your internet connection.
And, as we mentioned earlier, you can click Compliance Status to see which checks your machine passed or failed, and if necessary, take action to fix them.
Settings and Help, are at the bottom of Workplace for Windows, and the Workplace Web App ,which is the globe icon.
You'll find these on the upper right corner of the Workplace for Mac window.
To log out in Windows, simply click the red X in the upper right hand corner of the Workplace window. On a Mac, either quit from the Workplace menu, or click the gear and select Sign out. Just a note: as an additional security precaution, your Company Manager may configure Workplace to automatically log users out after a certain amount of idle time.
To access you files quickly, you can click the file icon in Workplace for Windows, and the hard drive icon in Workplace for Mac.
