Let's get you set up with Workplace! Before we begin, you'll need to have your laptop or desktop computer and your smart phone, powered on and ready to go.
Workplace requires you to sign in at all times using two-factor authentication. The first factor is your username and password, which you'll create in a moment.
The second factor is a Sign In verification. A smartphone with the Workplace app installed will always be needed to sign into Workplace.
If you do not have a smartphone, your Company Manager will grant you a one time access to Workplace, but a smartphone will be required for all future sign-ins.
Let's get started!
Setting up Workplace begins by clicking on a link provided to you via email invitation by your Company Manager. This link will take you to the Workplace login page, where you'll enter the unique credentials provided to you.
After logging in, you will choose to receive your verification code via SMS or email. Click Send Code.
Enter the code and click Verify.
The next screen asks if you wish to register your computer or mobile device. Please click No, - do not register my device. Click Continue.
You'll be redirected to the Workplace web app splash screen. Here you'll be informed of the onboarding process, which takes approximately 10 minutes, and will include installing Workplace on your computer, creating your Workplace account, and setting up Workplace for your mobile device.
Click Let’s do this! To continue.
What you'll see next is Workplace running a compliance check to determine whether or not you have Workplace installed on your computer.
You’ll be prompted to install Workplace on your computer.
Click Download.
You’ll see a downloads bar, and also "contact support" if you’re having trouble with the download.
Once the download is complete, you can double-click on the Workplace installer at the bottom of the window, and proceed with the installation.
When you're asked if you want to Workplace to make changes to your device, click Yes.
When the installation window appears, click Install.
Close the installation window once installation is successful. You'll see a window appear on the upper right corner asking you to enable the Workplace browser extension.
Click Enable extension.
Once the installation is complete, in the web browser click "I installed Workplace successfully." If you could not install Workplace successfully, click that option, and you'll be given the support number.
Workplace will now check to make sure the Workplace browser extension is enabled. Click Continue.
Now you'll create your Workplace password.
When you're done, click Set password.
After you set up your password, the next step is to provide your mobile phone number so that you can receive an SMS link to download and install the Workplace app on your smart phone.
If you don't have a smartphone at this time, click the link Don’t have access to a smartphone?
Clicking on the link will bring you to a pop-up message stating that a smartphone will be required for all future sign-ins. If you don’t have your smartphone with you, we’ll grant you a one time access to Workplace. Please check your email for instructions on how to download the Workplace mobile app to your smartphone.
After entering your mobile number, click Send.
The next screen describes how you'll continue onboarding via your mobile device. If you prefer to use your iPad or tablet, click this link to receive instructions on download the app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
On your mobile device, tap the SMS link to automatically download the Workplace app.
Follow the usual steps to download the app.
Tap open, where you will encounter a sign in screen. Sign in using the unique username listed on the onboarding screen, and new password you just created.
The next screen confirms your mobile device was successfully linked to Workplace. Tap Continue to Workplace.
The app will prompt you to enable notifications so that you can receive a Verify Sign In request for future logins, and enable touch ID. You are required to set up a pin on the mobile device, which serves as a primary factor to access the app in the future.
Once the mobile app installation is complete, the onboarding screen will thank you for installing Workplace, and states that you can now continue working on your computer. Close the browser tab.
Workplace for Windows and Mac
Now that your onboarding is complete, the system automatically opens Workplace for Windows and Mac, where you're already signed in.
Workplace for Windows and Mac will default to the Launch section with your preconfigured web apps, as defined by your Company Manager, in the starred websites section, and a banner on the top of the screen with a link to view the Tour.
Please take as much time as you need to view the tours at the top of the workplace window before continuing to the next module.
In the next course, you'll learn how to fix common compliance issues.
