In the pursuit of keeping our customers secure, Adobe Flash Player will be removed from browsers hosted by OS33 after December 31, 2020.
What Does This Mean for Users?
If any user is using a website or application that requires Adobe Flash Player, after December 31, 2020, they will no longer be able to access Flash Player content using browsers hosted by OS33. Users may be able to access these websites or applications in a local browser, if it still supports Flash Player (though this is not recommended).
In 2017, Adobe announced that they will no longer distribute nor update Flash Player after December 31, 2020. The lack of updates will leave Flash Player software vulnerable to malicious exploits. Modern browsers from Microsoft, Apple, Google, and others have been phasing out Flash Player functionality, if they have not done so already.
You may find out more info from Adobe here.
What Do Users Need to Do If They Use a Website or Application That Requires Flash Player?
Although it may be possible to continue using Flash Player in a local browser, OS33 recommends following Adobe's advice and transitioning your website or application to more modern open standards such as HTML5, WebGL, and/or WebAssembly.
Adobe will continue issuing regular Flash Player security patches, maintain OS and browser compatibility, and add features and capabilities as determined by Adobe through the end of 2020. OS33 will continue to update Flash Player in hosted browsers up until December 31, 2020. After this date, OS33 will be removing Flash Player and users will no longer be able to access Flash Player content in hosted browsers.
OS33 strongly advises users to discontinue using websites and applications that leverage Flash Player before December 31, 2020, as Flash Player will be unpatched and unsupported by Adobe after that date and will be considered no longer secure.
What If a User Requires Support with Adobe Flash Player?
After December 31, 2020, OS33 will NOT provide support for Adobe Flash Player. Our support teams will NOT be able to resolve any issues that arise from the continued use of Adobe Flash Player in local browsers.
If a user needs to uninstall Adobe Flash Player for any reason (including troubleshooting), they will NOT be able to download Flash Player for reinstallation, as after December 31, 2020, none will be available from Adobe.
Will OS33 Make Previous Versions of Adobe Flash Player Available for Hosted or Local Browsers after December 31, 2020?
No. OS33 will be removing Adobe Flash Player in hosted browsers after December 31, 2020. OS33 always recommends using the latest, supported, and up-to-date software. Users should not use Adobe Flash Player after December 31, 2020 since it will not be supported by OS33 nor Adobe.
Will OS33 Provide Security Updates for Adobe Flash Player Available for Hosted Browsers after December 31, 2020?
No. OS33 will no longer be able to provide security updates as none will be available from Adobe after December 31, 2020.
Adobe will not issue Flash Player updates nor security patches after December 31, 2020. Adobe recommends that all users uninstall Flash Player on their devices before December 31, 2020. According to Adobe, users will be prompted to uninstall Flash Player on their local machines later this year and Flash-based content will be blocked (by Adobe) from running in Adobe Flash Player after the December 31, 2020.
