Introduction
The primary goal with respect to VPN (Virtual Private Network) configuration is to protect customer and datacenter resources. While VPN encryption provides security and protects against traffic sniffing, it does not decrease risk to customer environments by way of malware or crypto locker type of infections.
You can view VPN connections from your hosted environment to network devices installed in offices. Typical use cases for VPN are printing, connection to servers installed in other clouds or in local office, API integrations with backend servers.
- VPN's are not required for Workplace for Windows or macOS, Workplace for Browsers, or website SSOs. Users can launch applications and access all hosted resources with secure communication built into these products without need for VPN.
- VPN's are not optimal for large data transfers.
- VPNs and related changes are reviewed for security and compliance. Ambiguous requests or forms missing details can result in unnecessary delays. Including details about vendor or software requirements in the initial request can help to minimize process and setup time.
- VPN configuration at the Venn datacenter side is done by Venn Engineers. The remote peer is configured by the partner on behalf of their client.
- Company Managers: please reach out to your MSP to set up VPN or make changes to existing VPN configurations.
- MSPs: VPN setup or change requests require a ticket with attached form. Please view [LINK PUBLISHED ARTICLE: Setting up or Changing VPN Access] this article for more information.
