In order to implement additional security measures in these challenging times, your Workplace for Windows application needs a critical update to its autoupdater functionality if you are running a version of Workplace for Windows earlier than 3.4.7380.14006.
Install the Critical Update
When you start Workplace and launch any SSO-based web applications or click on the Globe icon in the bottom left corner, you will be directed to a new screen advising you to download and install this new critical update shown below.
When you see this screen, please click on the Download button to initiate the process.
Note: If you do not have Administrative access to your computer (e.g. your device is managed or administered by someone else), then please contact your IT Support team to help you with this update.
After you click on the Download, you will see this screen with the downloaded file shown in the bottom:
When you run the file, it will ask you to allow this application published by Venn Technology Corporation to make changes to your device. Please click Yes here:
You may also need to enter your administrative credentials at this point. At this point, you should see a message that the update was applied successfully. Please select I installed Workplace successfully on the web page and click Continue to proceed with your regular workflow. You are all set!
In case you run into any problems downloading or running the update, please select I could not install Workplace and click Continue to proceed with your regular workflow. Choosing this option will suppress the critical update prompt for a short period of time. If this happens, please contact your IT Support for assistance with this update. Your IT Support professional should be able to find the WorkplaceUpdater.exe file in your default download folder. Please ask them to run this update.
Immediately after you run this Critical update to Workplace for Windows autoupdater functionality, Workplace for Windows may ask you to update again. Please follow the in-app instructions. You can also find out more info here: Updating Workplace Desktop
Verify Update is Installed
You will know that the update is successful if you see one of two things:
- The Workplace for Windows app indicates that an autoupdate is available, as in the screenshot below
- You are running Workplace for Windows version 3.4.7380.14006 or later.
If you see either of these two things, no further action is needed!
