Need access to your Workplace files while you're on the move? workplace windows_ and workplace mac_ let you work with your files even if you don't have an internet connection.
Sync the files you need to your laptop
Browse your Workplace files directly in File Explorer or Finder. The green check means the file is available locally.
If your company manager has given you On Demand File Access, then your Workplace folders and files are visible inside File Explorer (Windows) and Finder (Mac) once you install Workplace on your laptop. Your files are not automatically synced locally--to spare your laptop's memory, we only sync the files you want.
To sync your files locally:
- In File Explorer or Finder, find the file or folder you wish to sync locally. If it's not yet synced, you'll see a grey circle with a white cloud outlined on it.
- Click the file you wish to sync. If you wish to sync the entire contents of a folder, click the folder name.
- The grey cloud will turn into two circular arrows to indicate that the file is syncing.
- The file is synced to your laptop when the icon turns into a green circle with a white check.
When you get ready to leave the office, it's important to remember to put your laptop to sleep instead of shutting it down. If you shut down your laptop, you'll be asked to sign in the next time you open Workplace. For security reasons, Workplace needs an internet connection to validate your password. If you power up your laptop on a plane, you won't be able to sign in unless you can get on in-flight Wi-Fi.
