In the pursuit of keeping our customers secure, the functionality of Workplace Files on mobile is changing on February 25th, 2021.
In the past, if users were set to work only in the Workplace hosted environment, that meant they were also configured to allow read-only access to files when using Workplace for iOS and Android. This was intended for users to be able to review documents on their mobile devices, while preventing them from making any changes.
On February 25, 2021, we are going to change that access.
If users are configured to work using apps, websites, and files exclusively in our hosted environment, they will not be able to read, view, nor edit files via Workplace for iOS and Android. If a user attempts to access files in this configuration, the app will inform them that they have to use Workplace on their computer.
If users are configured to be able to sync files locally, the workflow will be the same as it has always been. Users will be able to view and edit Workplace files on their mobile devices leveraging native apps such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for iOS or Android.
If Company Managers and/or stakeholders would like to keep read-only access to files or for further information about accessing Workplace Files on mobile devices, please see Enabling or Restricting Files for Workplace Mobile
